Today’s conversation is important for anyone who has suffered the loss of a relationship whether they wanted it or not. In this episode I speak with Vikki about her book and her work surrounding it. Based on a study of over 400 women worldwide, Runaway Husbands: The Abandoned Wife’s Guide to Recovery and Renewal, is the first book to explore and offer healing strategies to women whose lives have been turned upside down. Whether you identify as having a runaway husband, or you have simply gone through a break up with a man or woman, this episode is for you!

In this episode with Vikki Stark we discuss relationship advice topics that include:

  • How to deal with the pain and shock of a partner suddenly leaving a seemingly happy relationship
  • What Wife Abandonments Syndrome is and how it’s different from a regular break up
  • How to use a life crisis as an opportunity for growth
  • Learning to forgive yourself and your partner
  • What to focus on during the healing process of a break up
  • How to be comfortable as a single person and learn to trust again
  • And much more!

I’ve been a psychotherapist and family therapist for over thirty years. Originally from New York City, I currently live in Montreal where I’m the founder and director of the Sedona Counselling Centre of Montreal. I’ve written three books (My Sister, My Self, Runaway Husbands and The Divorce Talk: How to Tell the Kids) and edited a fourth, Planet Heartbreak, which is a compilation of 62 stories written by the Runaway Husbands women. I’m a blogger for Psychology Today and my posts have been read by over 4 million people. I have often been a guest on radio and television and a speaker at conferences worldwide. I’m devoted to helping the women of my community and love leading retreats, either online, in Montreal or in Sedona, Arizona. My interests? Yoga, nature, chess, reading, my precious friends and family, anything that makes me laugh, and my small black dog, Chloe.
